CARTIF PROJECT

SHBUILDINGS

System of prevention of the degradation that at the same time serves for the integral management of historical buildings

Description

SHBUIDINGS develops a degradation prevention system that at the same time serves for the complete management of historic buildings, using advances in sensoring, Internet of things (IoT) and cloud computing, providing objective criteria for decision-making on actions to be carried out in the building where that system is deployed.

CARTIF is in charge of the installation, supervision and verification of the kit of nodes and sensors for preventive conservation in the cathedral of Palencia (Spanish demonstrator), of these sensors calibration (with respect to an equivalent mirror system), of the CE marking entire system, and also of the development of the interface for displaying the data recorded.

Objectives

  • To integrate various monitoring and control tools, both for the conservation of buildings, the increase in security and the improvement of energy efficiency.
  • To propose a modular package consisting of a basic management system and different additional modules able to be integrated according to the needs of each scenario.
  • To offer flexibility in the use of the management system, taking advantage of the cloud computing services to be adapted to the final user needs.

Actions

  • Implementing three pilot projects necessary to verify the tools developed: Cathedral of Palencia (Spain), Church of S. Pedro de Roriz (Portugal) and Basque Museum of Bayonne (France).

  • Promoting a new management methodology among public administrations based on digital technologies.

  • Promoting RTD and competitiveness, in addition to guarantee the sustainability of the SUDOE Space.

Achieved results

Efficient system to guarantee the sustainability of historic buildings, supported by hardware (heritage preservation), and by a cloud computing software (to support the decision-making process).
The system is modular and scalable according four pillars: preventive conservation, safety, energy efficiency and use management.
