CARTIF PROJECTS
REMOURBAN
Transformation of urban environments into more sustainable and smart areas.
Description
REMOURBAN is a large-scale demonstration project, coordinated by CARTIF, whose main objective is to develop and validate in three lighthouse cities (Valladolid-Spain, Nottingham-UK and Tepebaşı-Turkey) a holistic and replicable urban regeneration model to facilitate the process of transforming urban environments in more sustainable and smart areas. To ensure the replicability of the model, two follower cities (Seraing-Belgium and Miskolc-Hungary) participate in the project.
This model integrates all the technical innovations developed and demonstrated in the project in its priority areas -energy, mobility and ICT- as well as non-technical innovations considering all the stakeholders involved in the transformation process of the city.
Objetives
- Development and validation through large-scale interventions of an Urban Regeneration Model.
- Demonstration of the model replicability.
- Creation of an innovative technologies and solutions catalog.
- Identification of non-technological barriers, innovative business models and financial schemes.
- Definition of an evaluation framework for smart cities.
- Development of citizen involvement strategies for supporting the urban transformation process.
Actions
- Energy: district energy retrofitting and distributed generation through renewable energy sources.
- Mobility: Encouragement of the purchase of electric vehicle and improvement of urban infrastructure for its use.
- ICTs: advanced energy management systems, development of monitoring tools and city platforms, monitoring of electric vehicles and energy systems.
Expected results
- CO2 emissions reduction: 50% in districts and 5% in urban mobility.
- Energy consumption reduction: 34% in districts and 5,1% in urban mobility.
- 1927 variables collected in the REMOURBAN global platform and development of 6 services/apps.
- 19.800 citizens involved.
