CARTIF Projects

Incorporation of new equipment and processes to improve the advanced digital manufacturing laboratory.

Description

The activity focuses on the acquisition of advanced technological elements to enhance rapid prototyping services, as well as to support specific developments in the challenging processes of creating objects that are not available on the market or are costly to produce in limited quantities. To this end, Cartif intends to incorporate knowledge methodologies prior to actual manufacturing, focusing and anticipating constructive failures (geometric and resistant) and eliminating costly iterations by means of numerical computing software. In addition, several equipment are incorporated such as a thermoforming machine to achieve quality finishes, a mixing and pumping system to face 3D printing projects in the field of construction and a total long-distance scanning station in order to explore new and more advanced services.

Objectives

  • Strengthen the ability to innovate, solve problems and keep Cartif at the forefront of research and technological development in different areas.
  • Experiment with different scenarios and settings, contributing to informed and strategic decision-making in the design and execution of the manufacturing process.
  • Incorporate simulations in manufacturing processes to reduce or cancel redesign steps.
  • Develop specialised products and services related to laser measurement and calibration.
  • Tackle innovative projects in the field of construction through 3D printing directly on site.

Expected Results

  • Extension of computational simulation software. Manufacturing methodologies with a pre-analytical approach.
  • Acquisition of the MAYKU 3D MAYKU Multiplier thermoforming machine. Design of positioner fillers for integrated elements in component boxes.
  • Purchase of mixing and pumping equipment (M-TEC Duo Mix 2000 with 3D print and spray head) and integration in 3D printing system on site.
  • Purchase of scanning equipment and total station (Leica MS60) for data acquisition for calibration of 3D monitoring equipment for construction processes.

R&D Line

  • Development of designs and prototyping of new mechanical and structural systems.
