The LIFE myBUIDLINGisGREEN project comes to an end and to commemorate these last years it has organised a final conference from 19 y 21 September to be held at the facilities of the Royal Botanic Garden (RJB-CSIC) in Madrid, the project coordinator.

The event will bring together both members of the consortium and people interested in learning about the results achieved during this period, professionals specialised in the field of green infrastructure and the adaptation of buildings and cities to climate change, as well as representatives of public organisations involved in green initiatives, with the aim of sharing the success of proposal for change, funded by the European LIFE programme, and the actions carried out in the demonstrators.

Managers of projects and initiatives related to Nature-based Solutions at local, regional, national –Spain and Portugal- and even European level will be present during the congress, which will be evolve in Spanish.

The main theme of the first day will be the concept of green cities with two interactive sessions to review the current strategies being implemented to tackle climate change, and how the implementation of Nature-based Solutions brings thermal comfort to cities in Spain and Portugal. After lunch, attendees will be able to visit some of these solutions located in Madrid.

During the second day specific cases will be presented in which Nature-based Solutions have been present as a central core and as an alternative for climate adaptation in cities and buildings. In the first part, projects co-funded by the LIFE Programme of the European Union will be discussed, and during the second part, other initiatives available in Spain will be discussed. On this occasion, there will be a guided tour of the facilities of the Royal Botanic Garden.

The CARTIF team that is part of this project will participate in the moderation of one of the round tables entitled “Session 4: Other initiatives for the promotion of Nature-based Solutions”. To conclude the meeting, Madid City Council will lead the session “Nature, culture and evolution” in which it will work towards building and community of knowledge and innovation that shars a climate and strategic vision of municipal public and climate policies.
