The consortium of LIFE REFIBRE Project, represented by CARTIF, ICCL, Grupo INCOSA, BLASGÓN and SAN GREGORIO, will offer next Thursday, December 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. a workshop with streaming broadcasting in which it will present the final results of this initative of circular economy after three years of activity.

The 5th workshop of LIFE REFIBRE, aims to publish the data, advantages and disadvantages and lessons learned, among others, that have been collected during the project, which began in 2017. Likewise, it is intended to disseminate the results of the same and share everything learned with the attendees and reflect on the importance of the application of the circular economy in the new projects that are carried out, always hand in hand with innovation.

First-line speakers will take part in the day to be able to convey to the audience the importance of current innovative initiatives. With the presence of researchers, R&D&I projects and from an industrial point of view, the aim will be to put the final touch on the achievement of the five programmed workshops, reaching the vision of all sectors. The wind and construction sectors will be studied in depth and topics such as composite materials, the mechanics of fracture or the path followed towards the recovery of waste will be discussed.

The objective of LIFE REFIBRE is to promote the integrated management of plastic waste reinforced with fiberglass (GRP) that make up the blades of wind turbines once their useful life has ended. The Project has achieved the complete and high-quality recyclability of its main compund, fiberglass (64% total weight), favoring the recovery of these wastes in favor of a reduction in their presence in landfills and providing them with a second cycle life for an application with high added value: its incorporation into asphalt agglomerate.
