PROBONO

The Integrator-centric approach for realising innovative energy efficient buildings in connected sustainable green neighbourhoods

Description

PROBONO brings together a European multidisciplinary consortium of 47 partners, to turn the six European districts (PROBONO´s Living Labs) into Green Building Neighbourhoods (GBN), with positive energy balance and zero carbon emissions: two large-scale demonstrators (Madrid and Dublin) and four living labs representing business/owner promoters of the green buildings and neighbourhood´s transition (Porto, Brussels, Aarthus, Prague).

PROBONO will provide strong examples of how GBN´s technological and social innovationas can be applied, with a vision focused on building infrastructure and a renewed focus on people and sustainability.

PROBONO will provide a Green Building Neighbourhoods Digital Twin (DT) implemented across the LLs as a virtual representation of associated GBN including operational assets that implicate environmental and efficieny KPI.

      Objectives

      • Provide GBN Strategic Planning Tools in spatial, economic, technical, environmental, regulatory and social context aligned to city and urban masterplans, policy frameworks and the EU Taxonomy.
      • Provide a set of GBN Construction and Renovation and GBN Green Energy Transition Acceleration Enablers matching initial LL requirements.
      • Maximise the adoption of the PROBONO energy efficient approach and innovations beyond the project lifetime by using a range of participatory methods that promote stakeholders (including citizens) participation in co-designing and co-delivering a sustainable GBN in the LLs and beyond.
      • Provide a Green Building Neighbourhoods Digitalisation Platform – Digital Twin to enable decision support in GBN planning design, manufacturing, construction and operation phases.
      • Plan, monitor and continuously assess the project´s LLs efficiencies and Evaluate and demonstrate the PROBONO innovations through the LLs GBN Implementation.

      Actions

      • CARTIF leads the monitoring and evaluation activities of the project´s Living Labs.
      • CARTIF leads the definition of the Living Labs Evaluation Framework.
      • CARTIF leads the establishment of the monitoring programs associated with each LL.
      • CARTIF leads the evaluation of the impact achieved after the integration of innovative solutions.
      • CARTIF gives support to the Spanish Living Lab located in Madrid, based on the extensive experience in digitization tools, energy monitoring systems, energy audits, energy simulations, among others.

      Expected Results

      • Evaluation Framework adapted to the GBN needs.
      • Digital Twin for the support in the decision making for the operational stage of the Geothermal network.

      R&D Line

      • Research and development of urban indicator systems
